Class Assignment: To Be or Not to Be a Fashion Student
"Are Fashion students the only fashionable students?”
When profiling AAU students who are not in the same art major as you are, you begin to look at them a little closer. You scrutinize to find out clues you won’t normally see without paying attention to your surroundings. Who would’ve thought that an Interior Design student, an Illustration student, and a Motions Picture Television student would be dressed fashionably? Leave it to Paris Yuan (Interior Design), Kiersten Eagan (Illustration), and Noor Zeine (MPT) to look trendy and stylish while either in the library, café, or just walking to and from class. These girls look the “part.” I wasn’t too surprised because San Francisco is such an oddly fashionable city with hidden peaks of fashion right around the corner. You don’t even have to go to Haight street, you can just travel around the downtown area to spot the AAU students. Normally in the cafeteria on Sutter street you would normally see the undergrad punk kids in the corner, the loud girls swooning over some random guy in the middle, then there are the athletes that take up 2 or more tables goofing off and being boisterous. Throughout this array of students there are always fashion students roaming around in the “latest” trends and or designer clothing, high-heels, hand-bags, jewelry, etc. You can usually spot the fashion students a mile away from their “swagger“. I believe it was Chanel that said “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” If that is in fact a true statement why isn’t every AAU student considered fashionable, I mean Chanel also stated that “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” Then is it style that these girls have or is it fashion? ZAC POSEN AND TARGET
WELL WHAT DO ZAC POSEN AND TARGET HAVE IN COMMON..CAN YOU SAY" I SMELL A COLLABORATION COOKING UP"
ZAC-AROUND-THE-CLOCK: "Bring your double-shot iced mocha latte and energy bar to Target’s 24-hour pop-up shop for Zac Posen’s Go International collection. The event, at 481 Eighth Avenue and 34th Street in Manhattan, will give consumers a jump on the collection, which is due to arrive in Target stores and target.com on April 25. The pop-up shop will offer Posen’s entire collection for Target and will be open from 11 p.m. on April 15 to 11 p.m. on April 16. The designs, all priced under $199, include a brocade party dress, gold halter dress, red leather motorcycle jacket, tuxedo jacket and pants, two-piece ruffled red dress and red swimsuit with plunging neckline. Since Posen has never been one to miss a good party, Target is creating “an environment that reflects the collection,” said a Target spokesman. “[It will be like] a party with live music and entertainment, DJs and a variety of different surprises.”
